Xinhua News Agency Sichuan Channel, May 20th (Chen Juwei, Feng Lei) "The "2021 Expatriate Elites Sichuan-Chongqing Exchange" was held in Chengdu on the 19th. At the event, 37 overseas Chinese-related projects were signed in various fields such as headquarters economy, electronic information, new materials, intelligent manufacturing, energy and chemical industries, with a total amount of 6.15 billion yuan.

In order to implement the central government’s decision and deployment on the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle, this event was hosted by the Sichuan Provincial People’s Government and China Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs. With the theme of “Building a Consensus to Construct Twin Cities, Converging Overseas Chinese’s Power to Create a New Chapter”, it aims to promote overseas Chinese capital and overseas intellectuals to participate in the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle in a larger, deeper and broader field, and help the Sichuan-Chongqing region Quality development and the construction of new heights of reform and opening up to promote exchanges and cooperation between state-owned enterprises, overseas Chinese enterprises and countries and regions along the "Belt and Road" in the fields of science and technology, economy, trade, and investment.

The event attracted more than 200 people including the China Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs delegation, the delegation of the Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Association, the American Association of Hundred Talent Award winners, the representatives of overseas Chinese entrepreneurs in Sichuan and Chongqing, and the representatives of state-owned and private enterprises in Sichuan.

According to reports, there are more than 8,000 overseas Chinese-funded enterprises in Sichuan, accounting for more than 60% of foreign investment. In the context of the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle, the two places have established a "one-hour commuting circle". The flow of talent elements between the two places will be more convenient and the development of overseas Chinese entrepreneurs will usher in more opportunities.

Chen Bin, executive vice chairman of the China Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs, believes that compared with the eastern coastal areas, Sichuan and Chongqing have relatively low production costs and relatively rich land resources, which are suitable for the development of manufacturing. He suggested that overseas Chinese entrepreneurs and enterprises engaged in the development of intelligent industries should seize the opportunity and bring advanced experience to Sichuan and Chongqing.

Liao Honghai, executive vice president and secretary general of the Chongqing Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs, said that with the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle, we look forward to bringing advanced experience in smart cities and biotechnology abroad to Sichuan and Chongqing.

At the event, the "Home of Scientific and Technological Workers in the Overseas Chinese Circle in Sichuan" jointly established by the Sichuan Association for Science and Technology and the Provincial Federation of Overseas Chinese was unveiled, and 10 well-known overseas Chinese scientists and technicians in Sichuan served as the first batch of executive committee members. The Overseas Chinese Business Alliance was established to build a platform and provide opportunities for overseas Chinese entrepreneurs in Dazhou, Sichuan, Wanzhou District and Kaizhou District of Chongqing. The guests at the conference also conducted dialogues and exchanges on the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle.
