Recently, Hope Deepblue successfully signed a heat pump order with an Austrian customer to provide hot water lithium bromide absorption heat pumps for the ski resort in Lermoos, Tyrolean, Austria, to improve the efficiency of heat output by recovering waste heat from the flue gas of the customer's biomass boiler, so that winter sports enthusiasts and athletes can enjoy the outdoor ice world and feel the most comfortable warmth indoors at the same time.
The Austrian Tyrol is a major winter sports destination in the Alps, with more than 600 peaks over 3,000 metres above sea level, and tracks of all levels of difficulty spread throughout the state, allowing skiers to roam freely across the snowfields. It has hosted two Winter Olympics and several national Winter Olympic teams, including China, have set up training bases here.

After a refreshing icy journey on snow-covered trails, people are in dire need of warmth. Since wood chips, the source of biomass fuel, are more readily available in high mountain areas, numerous biomass heating stations are located at high altitudes in the Alps to provide heating for hotels, guest houses and various residential facilities in the local tourist resorts.
Hope Deepblue. The boilers of biomass heating stations form a heating source by burning wood chips, but at the same time they produce a large amount of high-temperature flue gases. These cannot be effectively utilised without the application of specialised energy-saving recycling equipment, resulting in a waste of thermal energy resources. At the same time, the tourist areas in the Alps have strict waste emission standards, which greatly increase the environmental operating costs of biomass heating plants. More and more biomass heating stations are actively seeking advanced energy-saving equipment that can improve the efficiency of heat output of biomass boilers.
Hope Deepblue's lithium bromide absorption heat pumps, as a professional waste heat recovery equipment, perfectly solves this pain point for users by converting the biomass boiler flue gas system at the heating station to active flue gas condensation, using lithium bromide heat pumps to cool the flue gas. The heat pump boosts the large amount of recovered low-temperature heat to a high level for preheating the return water for district heating. This process uses the waste heat from the boiler as the driving energy for the unit, almost no need to consume electricity, truly realising heat for heat, waste heat reuse, ‘waste heat’ into wealth.

This is the second time that Hope Deepblue has cooperated with this customer, who purchased Hope Deepblue lithium bromide heat pumps for a heating station project in Gerlos, Austria, in 2022, and whose first season ended successfully in April 2024. The operating data show that the new flue gas condensing system achieves flue gas heat recovery rates of up to 30 per cent and an average of 26.2 per cent over the entire heating season. The unit has satisfactory results, and has been highly praised by the customers. The consecutive purchasing contracts signed by the customers have fully proved the advanced technology, reliability and outstanding energy-saving effect of Hope Deepblue lithium bromide absorption heat pumps.
