This land boasts rich ethnic customs and the profound heritage of Bashu culture. As the national strategic layout and the Western Development continue to advance, this vast region is poised to seize a golden opportunity for transformative development. On June 22, the School of Management at Fudan University's ‘Fudan Management Insights’ Made Its Stop in Southwest China and Fudan University EMBA Southwest Alumni Association 2025 Annual Meeting were held in Chengdu. Scholars, experts, government-enterprise representatives, and business elites, including Lu Xiongwen, Dean of the School of Management at Fudan University; Shao Yu, Adjunct Professor of the School of Management at Fudan University and Distinguished Senior Research Fellow of the National Institution for Finance and Development; and Xu Xiaodong, Adjunct Professor of the School of Management at Fudan University, gathered around the theme of "Western Hardcore Strength: New Industrial Opportunities" to explore the core propositions of industrial development in western China.

The School of Management at Fudan University has a robust alumni network in Southwest China, covering Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, and Guizhou provinces and municipalities. Alumni are active across a wide range of industries, including key sectors such as finance, advanced manufacturing, next-generation information technology, and communication networks. Over 60% of them hold decision-making positions such as chairman, general manager, or vice president, serving as an indispensable backbone force in the development of various industries.

In his speech, Lu Xiongwen, Dean of the School of Management at Fudan University, stated that the southwest region not only has a solid manufacturing foundation but also an increasingly abundant pool of scientific and technological talents and an innovative atmosphere, and will undoubtedly become a new growth pole for China's economy in the future. He believes that the government plays a crucial role in creating a favorable innovation environment, but the real driving force for innovation still comes from private enterprises and market entities. In today's China, to achieve leapfrog development, it is necessary to stimulate greater participation from non-governmental forces, especially in such fields as scientific and technological innovation, business model innovation, and enterprise management innovation. Breakthroughs in these areas are the key driving forces that will truly lead China into the future.
Lu Xiongwen pointed out that the growth of sci-tech innovation enterprises does not merely rely on government policy support; rather, it depends more on the spontaneous efforts of enterprises and the market. Only in this way can China's economy break through difficulties and move toward a new stage of development. In 2020, the School of Management at Fudan University put forward the concept of "No sci-tech innovation, No future" and fully implemented the sci-tech innovation strategy, aiming to cultivate more entrepreneurs and sci-tech innovation leaders with a global perspective and innovative thinking through management education.

Shao Yu, Adjunct Professor at the School of Management at Fudan University and Distinguished Senior Research Fellow of the National Institution for Finance and Development, delivered a keynote speech titled "All In —— Trade Wars and New Productive Forces".

Xu Xiaodong, Adjunct Professor at the School of Management at Fudan University, delivered a keynote speech themed "Organizational Development and Executive Cultivation in Sci-Tech Innovation Enterprises". He stated that the core of an enterprise's sustainable development lies in answering three key questions: "Who am I?", "Where am I going?", and "How do I get there?"; and that the organizational foundation should be built through a synergistic model of "Virtuous Values, Accurate Strategies, and Sound Systems". In corporate practice, there is often a significant gap between theory and practice. Particularly in the process of translating execution and leadership into results, enterprises frequently face the dual challenges of organizational development and executive growth. Therefore, an enterprise's strategic direction must align with market changes and industry trends, rather than merely relying on traditional management theories. As the external environment undergoes drastic changes, enterprises need to continuously adjust their strategies and enhance leadership through the constant self-cultivation of executives to achieve long-term success.

In the dean's dialogue session, Dean Lu Xiongwen engaged in a fascinating discussion with Chen Bin, co-founder and president of Continental Hope Group, and Duan Jiang, founder and president of Hengtu Technology as well as professor at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, focusing on topics such as technology going global and technological innovation.

In the roundtable discussion session, Shao Yu, Adjunct Professor at the School of Management at Fudan University and Distinguished Senior Research Fellow of the National Institution for Finance and Development, conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as "Western Hardcore Strength: New Industrial Opportunities" with An Shuai, Director and General Manager of Sichuan Provincial Industrial Investment Guidance Fund Co., Ltd.; Hu Haojie, Executive President of Renxin Welding Robot (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. and CEO of Renxin Robot; Liu Xueying, Chairman of Chengdu Ruidi Wei Technology Co., Ltd. and alumnus of Fudan Sci-Tech Innovation Entrepreneurs Program; and Wang Lisheng, President of Sichuan Woyouda Technology Group Co., Ltd. and Fudan University EMBA alumnus.
