How can we carry forward and promote fine traditional Chinese culture? A cultural show themed "Midsummer Dragon Boat Festival · Xinjin Charm & Cultural Heritage" was recently held to great fanfare at the Central Plaza of Xinjin Hope Outlets. The event attracted numerous families with children, with more than 30 young performers taking the stage one after another. Featuring instrumental recitals, dance routines and interactive performances, the young talents delivered a cultural extravaganza that merges age-old traditional aesthetics with youthful energy for all attendees.
The gala opened with a dynamic drum set performance of Gospel 01 presented by Chengxin Music. Two young drummers played in seamless harmony, their rousing beats instantly livening up the entire plaza.

A string of brilliant acts followed one after another. Chen Shutong from Xinjin High School presented a Latin dance Peace & Harmony for Dragon Boat Festival, artfully weaving traditional festival motifs into vibrant choreography. Deng Jinghan of Chengxin Music then brought another drum set number Go, which wowed the crowd once more. Cheng Zizhou from Xinjin Chengwai School offered a melodious flute solo, and Hu Yahan from the Wangjin Campus of Xinjin High School touched countless viewers with her crystal-clear vocal rendition of Pear Blossoms Bloom Again.

Traditional cultural elements also shone brightly on stage. The classical dance Flourishing Blossoms, performed by Tianfu Mushan School of Xinjin District, featured meticulously choreographed costumes and movements, reflecting the school's dedication to aesthetic education. Following this came jazz routines Mandarin Duck Frolic and Sweet Duet, as well as the thematic dance Celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival. All young dancers poured their passion into every move to convey their appreciation and affection for traditional culture. Qiaochu Chenxin Art Training School brought six distinctive dance works to the stage: Picking Chrysanthemums Beneath the Eastern Fence by Song Xirui, Grace of the Coming-of-Age Ritual by Chen Yici, The Distance performed by Luo Muyang and Zhang Zixuan, Flowing Light by Pang Jin, and Clouds Adrift in Rosy Hues by Wu Tongyu. Blending classical poetic grace with contemporary emotional storytelling, the young artists’ heartfelt performances earned continuous bursts of applause.

Adding to the fun, the event featured interactive Q&A sessions covering Dragon Boat Festival traditions and Xinjin’s local intangible cultural heritage. A themed market ran parallel to the stage performances, where stalls offering hand-painted artworks, sugar-figure craftsmanship and heritage dough sculptures drew throngs of visitors.

One mother who attended the full show with her two children shared: “My children had an amazing time. The lineup of performances was incredibly rich, and their favorite parts were the clown act and trivia quiz — the whole event was so entertaining.” Taking to the stage also helped all young performers build confidence and achieve personal growth.

Xinjin District is hailed as the “Birthplace of Ancient Shu, a Poetic and Picturesque Land”, and is now striving to build itself into an “Intelligent Manufacturing Hub & Livable Water City”. Centered on the theme "Midsummer Dragon Boat Festival · Xinjin Charm & Cultural Heritage", the event integrated stage performances with interactive market experiences, making traditional culture visible, touchable and immersive for all visitors.

Liu Zhenhua, Director of Brand Operations at Continental Hope Group, stated that events like this aim to revive local cultural memories of Xinjin and weave them back into residents’ daily lives. Moving forward, the Group will keep partnering with high-quality resources to launch more fun, culturally enriching immersive activities, turning commercial plazas into welcoming spaces for locals to experience traditional culture and enjoy quality family time.
