Dr. Chen Bin, Executive Vice President of Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and CHG President, Invited to Attend

On 20 September, the opening ceremony of the 2024 ‘One Belt, One Road’ Famous Chinese Businessmen Sichuan Tour and the ‘One Belt, One Road’ Chamber of Commerce Union Tianfu Tour was held in Chengdu. The event, with the theme of ‘Developing New Productivity - Overseas Chinese Helping Twin Cities Economic Circle’, was supported by Overseas Chinese Federation of China, co-organised by Overseas Chinese Federation of Sichuan, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Sichuan, Sichuan Provincial Committee of Zhigong Party and Overseas Chinese Federation of Chongqing, and co-hosted by Overseas Chinese Federation of Chengdu, Overseas Chinese Businessmen's Association of Sichuan, and Sichuan Chamber of Commerce of Tianfu New Area. Cheng Hong, Vice Chairman of China Overseas Chinese Federation, and He Yanzheng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Dr. Chen Bin, Executive Vice President of Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and CHG President, was invited to attend.

Cheng Hong said in her speech that building ‘One Belt, One Road’ is a major initiative personally planned, deployed and promoted by President Xi Jinping, and it is a major strategic initiative for China to open up to the outside world at a high level under the new historical conditions and a top-level design for economic diplomacy. Overseas Chinese can play an irreplaceable unique advantage and role in building the Belt and Road. She hopes that the majority of overseas Chinese businessmen and overseas Chinese enterprises will strengthen their confidence, and play a greater role in the construction of a modern industrial system, promote the formation of new productive forces, promote a higher level of opening up to the outside world, and promote the high-quality co-construction of the ‘One Belt and One Road’; and they should seize the opportunities of Sichuan's overlapping national strategies, and give full play to their financial resources, technology, talents, information, management, and integration of the Chinese and overseas Chinese. Overseas Chinese Federation organisations at all levels should accurately dock and optimise their services, promote the improvement of investment policies for overseas Chinese businessmen and policies for new overseas Chinese talents, and assist in creating a first-class business environment and an atmosphere for innovation and entrepreneurship, so as to provide strong support and guarantee for high-quality development, and inject the power of overseas Chinese into the promotion of Chinese-style modernisation.

He Yanzheng pointed out that the majority of overseas Chinese have huge advantages in terms of capital, talent, technology, etc., and have initially constructed a comprehensive opening pattern in the context of the high-quality construction of the ‘’One Belt, One Road‘’. Overseas Chinese are an important link between Sichuan and the rest of the world, and an important force for Sichuan's development. It is hoped that friends from the overseas Chinese community will continue to participate in the co-construction and promotion of Sichuan's opening up and cooperation with the outside world, actively build bridges to promote people-to-people communication between China and abroad, and contribute to the power of the overseas Chinese community in writing a chapter of Chinese-style modernisation in Sichuan.

During the event, Sichuan Tianfu New Area Chamber of Commerce and 8 representatives of overseas business associations signed business association contract to build up a platform for exchanges and cooperation between chambers of commerce and enterprises, and to better serve the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle. Relevant leaders of Suining, Bazhong and Tianfu New Area conducted ‘1+3’ dialogue interviews, which allowed the overseas businessmen to further understand the local business environment, investment opportunities, preferential policies and resource advantages.

Zhang Xiuming, Deputy Director of the Overseas Chinese Institute of China, gave a keynote speech on the theme of ‘Chen Jiageng's Sentiment of Serving the Nation through Industry’. The opening ceremony also held a scholarship distribution ceremony, China Overseas Chinese Business Federation, Sichuan Province Overseas Chinese Business Federation donated 700,000 yuan to support 100 students in 18 cities (states). Dr. Chen Bin, Executive Vice President of Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and President of Continental Hope Group, and other leaders distributed the scholarships to the representatives of the above cities and states. He said: in order to further enhance the cohesion and social influence of overseas Chinese businessmen, and to show the patriotism of overseas Chinese businessmen, China Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Sichuan Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce will continue to pay attention to social welfare, and to contribute to the development of the society and the progress of civilisation.

Dr. Chen Bin, Executive Vice President of Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and CHG President was also interviewed by Sichuan International Communication Centre. He said that overseas Chinese entrepreneurs and enterprises must actively develop new productivity, forming a good situation of ‘win-win’ for the high-quality development of their own careers and the social value of their enterprises, and contributing to the construction of a strong nation and national rejuvenation of the country by strengthening civil economic and trade cooperation through overseas Chinese entrepreneurs. More than 300 overseas Chinese businessmen from 35 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, Russia, Greece, Italy, etc., representatives of China Overseas Chinese Business Federation, Sichuan Overseas Chinese Business Federation, Chongqing Chinese Chamber of Commerce, famous enterprises in the province, member enterprises of Tianfu New Area Chamber of Commerce and friendly chambers of commerce attended the event. After the main event, the participating Chinese businessmen will go to Zigong, Luzhou, Meishan, Leshan and other cities to carry out a 3-day survey tour.
