From 8 to 15 September, Wang Yanfei, Secretary and Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, led a Sichuan delegation to visit Malaysia and Thailand to attend the 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, and Dr. Chen Bin, Executive Vice President of Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and co-founder and President of Continental Hope Group, was invited to attend.

The Sichuan delegation had in-depth exchanges with the parliaments of the two countries, representatives of the political and business sectors as well as the local Chinese communities, carried out publicity and promotion of the province, deepened and expanded the relationship with the Friendship Cities, and pragmatically promoted the co-operation with the relevant regions in the fields of parliamentary exchanges, cooperation with the Friendship Cities, humanistic exchanges, and economic, trade and investment. A total of 23 activities such as high-level visits, cultural exchanges, and Chinese community association were carried out in this event.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Congress system and the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress. The Sichuan delegation actively carried out parliamentary diplomacy. During the series of activities of the 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, the delegation had extensive exchanges with world-renowned Chinese entrepreneurs, introduced the achievements of Sichuan's economic and social development in depth, and promoted overseas Chinese entrepreneurs to come to Sichuan to invest and develop their business. The delegation took part in the Southward Opening and Co-operation Exchange Conference in Malaysia, the inauguration ceremony of the Sichuan Chamber of Commerce and the Sichuan-Chongqing Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, and the symposium on Thailand's Central and Southern Peninsula, etc. It also had talks and exchanges with leaders of major local Chinese associations such as the Malaysian Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Malaysian China Public Relations Association, the Malaysian Chinese Assembly Hall, the Federation of Teochew Associations of Malaysia, the Thai Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Thai-Chinese Overseas Chinese Business Federation, the Sichuan Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, the Sichuan Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, the Sichuan Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, and so on, introducing Sichuan's opening-up and cooperation with the outside world, relevant policies on overseas Chinese affairs as well as the practice of optimising the business environment, and encouraging the local Chinese associations to continue to strengthen their ties and cooperation with Sichuan and actively participate in the implementation of the national ‘One Belt, One Road’ Initiative.

During the visit, Dr Chen Bin, Executive Vice President of Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and co-founder of Continental Hope Group, had in-depth exchanges with Malaysian and Thai politicians and entrepreneurs. He said that Overseas Chinese Enterprises must promote entrepreneurial spirit, and Overseas Chinese Enterprises should actively develop new productivity, forming a good situation of ‘win-win’ for the high-quality development of their own careers and the social value of enterprises.

During the period, the delegation attended the ‘Affectionate China - Beautiful Sichuan’ cultural performance in Bangkok, Thailand, which was attended by more than 1,000 people from the governments of the two countries, international organisations, ambassadors and envoys of various countries, representatives of mainstream society, overseas Chinese and officials from our embassies and consulates in the two countries. With the purpose of showing the unique culture of Sichuan, the event comprehensively demonstrated the special culture of Sichuan through Qingyin Shu embroidery, face-changing, Taiji, puppetry, Kungfu tea ceremony and folk dance, etc., which was highly appraised by all walks of life in the local community and the mainstream media.
