Recently, the "Golden Autumn Charm of Xinjin · Inheritance of Intangible Cultural Heritage" Xinjin Traditional Cultural Performance made a grand debut at Atbositown Paradise in Xinjin District. Co-hosted by Hope Outlets (Xinjin District) and Chengdu Media Group · Red Star Education Media, this event attracted nearly 200 attendees, including local residents, parents and students.

At the venue, citizens gathered early, and children, accompanied by their parents, stepped excitedly into the exhibition area adorned with traditional cultural elements. As melodious classical music filled the air, the event officially kicked off. Six performers, clad in traditional Hanfu, moved with graceful lightness; their fluttering sleeves and intricate embroidery showcased the unique allure of traditional Chinese attire.

Shortly after, a diverse array of spectacular performances took turns on stage, and the atmosphere grew increasingly vibrant.

In the face-changing show, young performers demonstrated remarkable skill—their vividly colored masks shifted in the blink of an eye, captivating the children with this stunning intangible cultural heritage art. During the solo dance segment, dancers conveyed the beauty of innocence and history through delicate movements and heartfelt expressions, entrancing the audience. The group dances brimmed with energy: some mimicked the endearing postures of Tang Dynasty figurines, evoking the grandeur of the prosperous Tang era; others, like jasmine blossoms in full bloom, offered a fresh and elegant visual treat.

The interactive sessions were equally delightful. A clown performer deftly twisted balloons into flowers and small animals, handing them to the children—who swarmed around the stage, cheering with delight. When the bubble show began, vibrant bubbles drifted gently in the sunlight as children reached up to chase them, filling the venue with laughter and joy. A modern jazz dance then ignited the crowd with its dynamic rhythm; the fusion of tradition and modernity highlighted the charm of cultural exchange.

Beyond the stage performances, the market area was abuzz with activity. Citizens queued in an orderly fashion to join in at experience stations featuring paper-cutting, sachet-making, bamboo weaving, and lantern riddles. Some followed instructions to cut out patterns of ginkgo leaves and the Chinese character "Fu" (symbolizing blessings); others selected mugwort and lavender to craft sachets; meanwhile, parents and children tried their hands at bamboo weaving, creating small ornaments from simple bamboo strips. In the lantern riddle area, people gathered around lanterns inscribed with intangible cultural heritage knowledge to discuss the answers—deepening their understanding and affection for traditional culture through interaction.

Breathing Life into Intangible Cultural Heritage for Children

This event was more than just a cultural feast—it served as an "intangible cultural heritage initiation class" for children. Unlike the words in textbooks, children experienced the charm of traditional culture firsthand through "watching performances, engaging with craftsmanship, and creating with their own hands." The face-changing show sparked their interest in the history of Sichuan opera; during sachet-making, they learned about herbal knowledge. Through such "immersive experiences," intangible cultural heritage transformed from a distant "cultural symbol" into tangible "joy in daily life."

A parent shared, "Ordinarily, when I talk to my child about intangible cultural heritage, he finds it quite abstract. But today, after watching the performances and trying paper-cutting, he took the initiative to ask me, 'What other interesting intangible cultural heritages are there?' This is truly the best form of cultural initiation." The children who participated in the performances also exclaimed excitedly, "When we performed on stage, we felt like little ambassadors—it made us so proud!"

A relevant person in charge of Hope Outlets (Xinjin District) stated, "We have long been exploring the path of 'integrating culture, commerce, and tourism.' Through events like this, we hope to turn commercial spaces into more than just places for consumption—we want them to serve as carriers for cultural dissemination.
